Book this safari. You won't regret it.

Prime Safaris exceeded every one of my expectations by far. Cate was responsive, prompt, and professional throughout the booking and pre-trip process. She provided up-to-date information about new health screening protocols, offered flexibility in light of the ongoing situation on neighboring DRC, and was always a reliable point of contact from payment to pickup. Where Prime's excellence really shines is in its guide and driver, Jerom. As a solo traveller, being in a foreign country and foreign culture with no one familiar to turn to for help or recommendations, having a strong guide can turn a trip from stressful to stress-free — especially when you're the only client in the car. Jerom made that happen and then some. He was always prompt (if not early), had a clear plan for the day, provided good advice and recommendations, and was always at the ready with interesting facts about the next stop or something we saw on the drive. He seemed to know everyone everywhere we went, getting welcomed with warm smiles and laughs at virtually every places we stopped. This collegiality and friendliness reinforced the trust and comfort I had in knowing I and my belongings would be safe. Aside from the team at Prime, the 5-day safari brought me to Kibale and Bwindi National Parks to see the chimps and gorillas in their wild habitats, with stops at crater lakes, nature-packed swamps, cultural experiences (i.e., visits with a medicine man and local banana beer expert), and even a stop at the classic Equator sign for the water swirl experiment. At Kibale, we found a group of wild chimps, including infants, after just about 15min of hiking. We were able to spend extra time around them because the chimps stayed in the trees, but just being around them was a life changing experience. But Bwindi... Bwindi took my breath away. We got within 3-5ft (1-1.5m) of multiple gorillas; 15ft (5m) of a silverback, and saw multiple incredibly curious (and camera ready) juveniles come as close as 6ft (2m) away. One person in my group was even touched by one hidden in bunch of vegetation. Throughout the whole experience, everyone in the group couldn't help but gasp and question whether this was really happening. The other stops were far less attended, with me often being the only tourist there at the time. This made for an intimate experience that gave great opportunities to speak casually with the guides and learn about their lives and for them to learn about mine. The medium tier lodging was also phenomenal, with gorgeous views, a quite only disturbed by the chirping of birds, and delicious multi course meals served by attentive staff. The rooms were incredibly spacious and private cottages that ensured my stay wasn't disrupted by neighboring guests. All in all, this was a life changing trip that was absolutely worth every penny. For anyone interested, I cannot recommend Prime highly enough.

Outstanding trip!

Currently sat in the airport after spending an amazing 7 days touring Uganda. We choose Prime Safaris due to the reasonable price in comparisons to UK travel agents and we have not been disappointed. Arranging the tour was easy and Cate replied immediately. Cate tailor made a package to our specific requirements and short time frame with no issues. Ananias, our tour guide was exceptional throughout. Knowledgable in all areas and passionate about the wildlife we got to observe. Prompt and ensured we felt safe throughout, even managed to support us with some extra special requirements we requested. We saw everything we aimed to - the Big 5, gorillas, chimpanzees and so much more. Trusting this local company was a fantastic choice. Well done Prime Safaris, Ananias is a credit to you.

5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kampala.

How much does 5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari cost?

+

Prices start at $2391 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kampala usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari take?

+

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kampala is not rushed.

Is 5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 34 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Kampala, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 15. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 120-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book 5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari?

+

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kampala can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kampala and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 5 Days Uganda Gorilla, Chimpanzee and Wildlife Safari start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kampala within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kampala?

+

On Outty we rank every Kampala experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kampala Heart of Walking Adventure, Half day Kampala City Motor Bike Tours, Full Day Whitewater Rafting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kampala?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kampala?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
