    Beautiful Icelandic Adventure

"We booked our trip through Exoticca (a company I definitely would not recommend!!!), but fortunately, they subcontracted to this amazing local company for our Iceland tour, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. From start to finish, the entire trip was meticulously organized, with every day filled with breathtaking sights and well-planned activities. Our tour guide was a true highlight—he was not only incredibly knowledgeable about Iceland’s history, culture, and natural wonders, but also made the trip fun and engaging with his friendly personality and great sense of humour. He went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a memorable experience, answering all our questions and even sharing fascinating local stories and traditions. Each day was packed with must-see sights, from stunning waterfalls to geothermal hot springs, and we got to explore both well-known landmarks and hidden gems that really showcased the beauty of Iceland. Despite the busy itinerary, everything ran smoothly, and there was a perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and learning. Thanks to this local tour company, our trip to Iceland was unforgettable, and I cannot recommend them highly enough for anyone looking to explore this incredible country! (just try to book direct and avoid the stress of Exoticca)

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review. We are thrilled to hear that your trip to Iceland exceeded your expectations and that our team was able to provide you with such an outstanding experience! It’s wonderful to know that the breathtaking sights, well-organized itinerary, and the expertise of our tour guide helped make your trip truly memorable. We are especially glad that you appreciated the balance of adventure, relaxation, and learning during your time in Iceland. Our goal is always to offer a seamless and enriching experience that showcases both the iconic landmarks and hidden treasures of this beautiful country. We’re sorry to hear that your booking process through Exoticca was not up to your expectations. Thank you again for choosing us for your Iceland adventure. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back on another unforgettable journey!

    Driver was a rude jerk

First the good: The driver was a top-notch driver, very safe, following all the laws and driving carefully. I felt safe in the bus at all times. And he took us to gorgeous places, and told some interesting stories about the country. BUT... He was a Class-A JERK. He was extremely rude, miserable, and unhappy, and even not-so-subtly indicated that my friend is too fat to fit in their narrow seats. He also cranked the heat up so high we were all suffocating, and when we kindly asked him to turn it lower, he turned it OFF so we half froze to death. He wouldn't respond to the women who asked for the heat to be warm but not hot, but finally a man stepped up and asked, and then he made the temperature good. Sheesh! He was so rude that by the third day we were all secretly making fun of him and laughing at him, because we knew he'd have nothing nice to say. One woman had a medical issue and needed to get to a pharmacy for medication, but she was terrified to ask him, so chose to suffer instead. By the end of the tour, we'd decided that his wife or girlfriend had left him the morning the tour began, and he took it out on all of us. He didn't get one single tip. What a shame, because if he had been friendly, I'd have given this tour five stars.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you appreciated the safety, professionalism, and knowledge demonstrated by the driver during the tour. Safety and comfort are priorities for us, and we're glad that you felt secure while exploring such beautiful locations. However, we’re deeply sorry to learn that aspects of the driver’s behaviour fell short of your expectations, and this detracted from your overall experience. Respect and kindness are essential to ensuring that all guests feel welcome, comfortable, and well-treated throughout their journey. We take your concerns about his conduct very seriously, especially regarding any inappropriate remarks or unresponsiveness to requests, and will be addressing them directly with the driver. The situation you described does not reflect the level of service we aim to provide, and we sincerely apologise for any discomfort caused during the tour. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we are reviewing this matter to ensure future experiences are more in line with our high standards of customer care. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on a future tour where we can deliver the five-star experience you deserved.

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
