    Fantastic cultural experience

FANTASTIC TRIP! We loved it. The four days really allowed us to see the best of Lesotho. Long car rides were not too bad. We loved the village visit with guide (Joshua) most and the blanket presentation when we couldnt see the Dino prints. Would recommend to keep the blanket presentation. We would have liked to participate in a cooking class (bread or lentiles) and maybe seen a cultural dance presentation. However, we knows these are difficult to coordinate for solo/duo travelers. Probably need a bigger group for the dance. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your fantastic feedback — we’re delighted you loved your time exploring Lesotho with us! It’s great to hear that the four-day journey gave you a well-rounded experience, and that even the longer drives were still enjoyable. We’re especially happy that the village visit with Joshua stood out, and that the blanket presentation made up for the missed dinosaur footprints — that’s a special touch we also love including where possible. We really appreciate your suggestions around a cooking experience and cultural dance. You’re absolutely right — these are easier to coordinate with larger groups, but it’s valuable feedback and something we’ll continue working on to enhance the experience for smaller groups too. Thank you again for the recommendation — it truly means a lot to us, and we hope to welcome you back again someday!

    5 great days in Lesotho

We had a wonderful time in Lesotho, viewing the fantastic mountains, meet the friendly people, experienced their Culture life and on top- we had the best driver and tour guide one could ever have. Mo knew everything and inspired us with his knowledge.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the amazing review, it was a pleasure hosting you on your overland!

Roof of Africa offered just what we were looking for in a Lesotho tour…and then some!

Roof of Africa’s owners (Emil and Britney) exceeded our tour expectations on all counts. We are two retired senior women who were curious about exploring Lesotho’s natural beauty, history and people at our own pace. From our first contact to our final day of the tour, Emil and Britney meticulously coordinated our trip development and tour progress. Other than the positive reviews we read on Trip Advisor, we knew next to nothing about Roof of Africa and Lesotho. But Emil worked patiently with us to develop a nine day Lesotho tour, with immediate and detail feedback to all our questions. The trip experience was greatly enhanced by our Guide Peter who opened our eyes to his country as he (safely) drove us around Lesotho. Peter, being a Lesotho native, served as a conversational conduit for us as we interacted with the people of Lesotho. Peter, with obviously no shortage of experience in “reading” tourists, discussed with us on a daily basis our activity and culinary preferences and options. He generously shared his impressive knowledge about Lesotho’s wildlife, history and people. The last two days of the tour we opted to luxuriate in a safari reserve going on exciting wildlife drives and eating dreamy meals. The Driver (sadly I don’t remember his name) gave us a very interesting Durban tour before driving us to our hotel in Underburg. Some of the Durban tour options initially appeared touristy to us but that did not end up being the case…Durban’s Phansi museum, Muthi trade market and the Mandela Capture Site Museum are not to be missed.

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the wonderful, detailed review. It was such a pleasure spending time with you to discuss and then finally have the tour be such a success. We love what we do and love sharing it with others.

5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Durban.

How much does 5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban cost?

    +

Prices start at $1,413 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Durban usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban take?

    +

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Durban is not rushed.

Is 5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Durban, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban suitable for kids and families?

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 120-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Durban can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Durban and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 5 Day Lesotho Drakensberg and Safari Tour from Durban start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Durban within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Durban?

    +

On Outty we rank every Durban experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Culture Walking Tour of Durban, Sani Pass & Lesotho 4x4 Experience Day Tour from Durban, Luxury Canal Boat Cruise - Fun Things Durban Ushaka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Durban?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Durban?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
