A trip filled to the brim with unforgettable views, conversations, and fun.
A fantastic experience along the Garden Route with our guide Mawande. The views were so incredibly stunning and activities were fun and had a lot of variety. Also, we would highly recommend requesting Mawande as a guide. He provided an incredible depth of knowledge about the history, culture, and quirks of everything we saw across the Garden Route and we just had so much fun getting to know him during our 5 day tour. Some practical feedback for this specific tour: - if you go in the winter, prepare for some colder nights in the hostels because some lack sufficient, if any, heat. - the best food on the route was dinner at Nostalgie in Oudtshoorn. It was FANTASTIC so come with a large appetite. - if you have the option, maybe skip the ostrich farm for a different activity as its quite short and simple. You'll probably also see more at the game lodge. - if you can request an extra day at the game lodge. . .DO IT
Response from the operator: Dear Michael Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your 5-day Garden Route experience. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the scenery, variety of activities and, most importantly, your time with Mawande. It’s fantastic to hear how much you appreciated his knowledge of the history, culture and little quirks along the Garden Route. We’ll definitely pass your kind words on to him. It sounds like you had plenty of fun along the way as well! We also appreciate the practical feedback. The Garden Route can certainly be chilly during winter, particularly at night, and your comments about the activities and the time spent at the game lodge are useful for future travellers when planning their trip. And we’ll happily take the recommendation for Nostalgie in Oudtshoorn! Thank you again for the recommendation and for sharing so much useful insight for other travellers. We hope to welcome you back one day, perhaps with that extra night at the game lodge! Regards Bokbus Team

Packed Itinerary with Superb Guide
We had a great tour with a packed itinerary covering a large extent of the Garden Route, especially thanks to our guide Mawande, who was very knowledgeable, passionate to share stories about the country, culture, and people. He’s friendly, engaging, professional and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable. He also readily improvised and worked with the time constraints. While we encountered some hiccups (not due to Bokbus) such as with the accommodation, Mawande was very helpful and gave us good advice. One feedback for improvement: we only found out on the day that the road to Cango Caves was closed. Bokbus could have communicated earlier to us and offered an alternative activity. Otherwise we had a great experience and would recommend travelling with Bokbus.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear you had a great experience exploring the Garden Route and that Mawande played such a big part in making your trip memorable. His passion for sharing South Africa's history, culture, and people, along with his friendly and professional approach, is something we're very proud of. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to him. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the Cango Caves road closure. You're absolutely right that earlier communication would have been helpful, and we'll take this on board as we continue looking for ways to improve the guest experience. While some situations are beyond our control, keeping our guests informed as early as possible is always our goal. Thanks again for travelling with BokBus and for recommending us. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in South Africa soon! Regards Bokbus Team

Great Tour
Excellent tour covering the highlights of the Garden Route, which is a beautiful drive surrounded by greenery and mountains all the way. I opted for Guest House accommodation which was consistently good. My favourites were in Outshorn and at the Garden Route Game lodge. Our guide Mawande drove us everywhere and kept us well informed about the history of SA and the locations we visited. We opted not to go to Addo and Mawande worked hard to arrange an alternative safari drive more suited to what the group wanted and to keep us interested and engaged throughout the trip. Breakfast and dinner were included and this made the trip excellent value.
Response from the operator: Dear Sandra Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed exploring the highlights of the Garden Route and that the beautiful scenery, mountains, and lush landscapes made such a lasting impression. It's wonderful to know that you were pleased with your guest house accommodation, especially your stays in Oudtshoorn and at the Garden Route Game Lodge. We're especially grateful for your kind words about Mawande. His knowledge of South Africa's history, dedication to his guests, and willingness to adapt the itinerary to suit the group's interests are qualities we're very proud of. We're pleased he was able to arrange an alternative safari experience that better matched what everyone was looking for and kept the tour engaging throughout. It's also great to hear that the included breakfasts and dinners added to the overall value of your experience. Thank you again for choosing to travel with BokBus and for taking the time to share your feedback. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable South African adventure in the future. Kind regards The Bokbus Team

Why this scores 83
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cape Town.
How much does 5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park cost?
+
Prices start at $17850 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cape Town usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park take?
+
Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cape Town is not rushed.
Is 5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 99 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cape Town, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 120-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book 5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park?
+
Around 35 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cape Town can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cape Town and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 5 Day Garden Route Tour and Addo Elephant National Park start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cape Town within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cape Town?
+
On Outty we rank every Cape Town experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Penguins Day Tour from Cape Town, Table Mountain, Boulders Penguins and Cape point Day Tour, Wine Tour: Paarl, Franschhoek & Stellenbosch incl 3 wineries. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cape Town?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cape Town?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
