About this experience

The Saf Safari Oasis is about 45km to the northwest of Merzouga by track. The track will take us through the hamada (black, stony and arid desert), rivers of sand, dry rivers (depending on the time of year they will have more or less water) and mountainous tracks of stone and rock. We will cross extensive esplanades where nomadic settlements abound, with vegetation from the African savannah, fields of acacias and small scrub. In the tour we will cross other oases, among which we can highlight the Tisserdmine, where we will make a stop to observe the fossil deposits. The Oasis of Saf Saf is buried in a narrow mountain gorge ... very close to the border with Algeria. It is spectacular after the rainy season as it collects the water that comes down from the mountains, bringing life to the Saf Saf Waterfalls that continue their way to the south, through the narrow channel of the river that runs between palm trees forming small sandy beaches perfect for bathroom.

How better to live the desert than through the eyes of Dove

I wanted to show my son the desert and with Paloma everything exceeded expectations. She knows the terrain so much and likes what she does so much, that no one like her to convey the magic of the desert and the kindness of its people. She told us stories, culture, traditions, music, we went into the dunes with her, we ate tajine, Berber tortilla and tea. Paloma is not only a great professional and guide, but also a great person, close, kind and fun, who made us live and enjoy the desert through her eyes. Thank you.

Waste-free adventure, incredible, magical and full of unique experiences that remain for eternal memories.

The adventure of traveling to the desert with Paloma was truly incredible, knowing the culture and traditions from within is something that is priceless. She is an amazing person and it was striking to see how everyone knows and appreciates her and that impacts in a very positive way on the experience that one as a tourist lives. I would certainly repeat the experience. Thank you Paloma for being a spectacular guide and company.

Inchallah!!!⅚

Great desert tour

We have just taken a winter trip through southern Morocco with Nomadic Routes. We had already been in the summer but wanted to live the winter experience and this time we opted for a private circuit so as not to complicate ourselves with the transfer that involves moving around Morocco. We were picked up at Marrakech airport and started our route to the desert, in total 8 days stopping at the oases, in beautiful adobe villages and discovering the spectacular landscapes of the Moroccan Sahara during the route. It seems a lie that it's so close and exotic. The experience was very good, the off-road car was comfortable and we stayed in charming places selected by them without ever bursting the purse. Overall I can say that the value for money is excellent. The restaurants they selected also liked us all. The food there has delicious flavors because the ingredients are really natural, you eat tomato flavored again. Enterprise owner Paloma has been living in the Moroccan desert for years (literally at the foot of the great dunes of Merzouga), so she knows everything like the back of her hand and knows how to move safely. If you are thinking of making a trip to Morocco do not hesitate to contact Paloma. He personally attended us and designed a route according to the idea of travel we had in our minds and the money we had in our pockets. We were very happy with the truth.

Inchallah!!!

4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Merzouga.

How much does 4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic cost?

+

Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Merzouga usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Merzouga is not rushed.

Is 4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Merzouga, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic suitable for kids and families?

+

How far in advance should I book 4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Merzouga can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Merzouga and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 4x4 excursion to Safsaf Wild Oasis with traditional Berber picnic start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Merzouga within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Merzouga?

+

On Outty we rank every Merzouga experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Camel Trekking & 1 Night in Merzouga Desert Camp, From Merzouga: 2-Nights In Luxury Camp with Camel Trek & Dinner., Overnight in Merzouga with unforgettable Sunset & Camel/Quad ride. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Merzouga?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Merzouga?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
