Disappointed exxperience

I am writing this review to tell others about our experience with this carriage tour company on August 7, 2026. We had high expectations for this ride as a final excursion for our Alaskan cruise, but it turned out to be a deeply frustrating and unprofessional experience. The issues began before we even started. Our tour was scheduled for 9:30 PM, but we didn’t actually depart until 10:00 PM due to staffing issues and the driver taking a personal break. The quality of the tour itself was well below standard. Like other reviewers have mentioned, our guide took us thru residential areas of no value and communication was also a major issue as she mainly spoke while facing forward making it impossible for half of our group to hear her commentary. The entire tour was additionally ruined by the driver’s constant, repetitive, and loud attempts to force the horse to move faster, which created a very unpleasant atmosphere. We reached out to the company directly to address these concerns and request a refund which he refused to do sighting company policy. I felt it was important to share this experience. I would strongly recommend looking for a different tour provider if you are visiting the area.

Over half of the tour was...

Over half of the tour was residential areas. This was ok, but I’d prefer to see more of the city highlights.

Ride around town

Our driver was great! And Jack Sparrow (the horse) lived up to his name.

Great Experience!

Loved it!! Love that the driver gave us the option to either have a guided tour of Victoria, or we could choose to just sit and talk. We opted for the tour and I am so glad we did! Our driver was super knowledgeable and provided a lot of information about Victoria. Highly recommend

Memorable Night In Victoria

Our party of 6 had a port stop in Victoria for a very short period of time on a Thursday evening. As we walked to a restaurant, we passed the curbline with all the horses and carriages. I inquired about the rides, and the attendant handed me a card and answered my questions. We came back after dinner, booked the ride, and set off on our experience. We did not make reservations. Libby, our guide, gave us lots of interesting information about all kinds of things as we clip-clopped through the neighborhoods. Our horse, Fender, was a very good boy. In telling us about Fender, she informed us that part of the price of the ride went towards a retirement fund for the horses. Libby asked if we noticed that Fender was getting a little excited and going a little faster than normal. With that, she extended our tour to accommodate for the time "lost". I would highly recommend a ride with this company. It was a beautiful night in Victoria, and we are very happy with the memories we left with.

45-Minute By The Park Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vancouver Island.

How much does 45-Minute By The Park Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $240 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vancouver Island usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 45-Minute By The Park Tour take?

+

Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vancouver Island is not rushed.

Is 45-Minute By The Park Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 55 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vancouver Island, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 45-Minute By The Park Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 45-Minute By The Park Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 45-Minute By The Park Tour?

+

Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vancouver Island can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vancouver Island and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 45-Minute By The Park Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vancouver Island within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Vancouver Island?

+

On Outty we rank every Vancouver Island experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Victoria Guided Food and History Tour, Victoria Whale and Wildlife Cruise, Victoria Half-Day Whale Watching Adventure with Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Vancouver Island?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Vancouver Island?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
