Old van , no water ....
Old van , no water . Driver was nice but actually didn’t see what we went for. No waterfall, sloth were far away…. don’t spend the money.
Response from the operator: Dear Tammy, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry the day didn't meet your expectations, and we'd like to add some context for other travelers reading this. The vehicle: the van you traveled in is a 2025 model, fully insured and maintained. It is new, comfortable and safe — but it is not a luxury car, and we have never advertised it as one. We are a small nature-tour company, and our investment goes into certified naturalist guides, private service and access to protected areas rather than luxury transport. The waterfall: as we discussed by phone before your tour, the waterfall was closed by its administration on your date and the day before, because the access trail was under repair. Entry was simply not possible — for us or for any other operator. At that time we offered you two options: replace it with our coffee & chocolate experience, which you accepted, or cancel the tour with a full 100% refund. You chose to continue with the alternative. The sloths: sloths live in the upper canopy and rarely come down. We never guarantee close-up sightings, because the only way to guarantee one is to bait, handle or confine the animal. Costa Rican law and our own ethics do not allow that, and we will not do it. If another company promises you a sloth within arm's reach, we'd gently invite you to ask how that is possible. We show wildlife exactly as it lives — which sometimes means high in a tree, through binoculars or a scope. The water: drinking water was on board the entire day, in the cooler, and it was pointed out during our morning briefing, as it is on every tour. It was there for you at any moment, free of charge. We truly wish you had mentioned any of this during the day so we could have helped you right then. We remain proud of the way we work: honestly, transparently, and with full respect for the animals and for the country we love. Miller Contreras Co-founder & Lead Naturalist Guide, Guanadreams CR

Odd itinerary but great experience.
Overall a great experience. The waterfall stop and Rio Celeste were gorgeous but the best part for us was the jungle tour with guide Obed. His knowledge of the area was supreme and his ability to find and id the birds we saw and heard was incredible. He asked what we wanted to see and only failed in finding us a jaguar, which is probably for the best. 3 different toucans, 3 motmots and a slew of others were added to our life list. The only oddity and reason for the 4 stars was the order of operations. It doesn’t make sense to me to go swimming at the waterfall, then drive wet to the 2 hour walk in the jungle, then go to another wet event. As birdwatchers it would be better to have gone to the jungle first wearing dry clothes, then do the stops for lunch and the wet events after. Overall satisfying as a tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re truly happy to hear that you had a great time overall and that you enjoyed the waterfall stop and Río Celeste. It’s especially wonderful to know that the jungle tour with Obed was the highlight of your day he really is an exceptional guide, and we’re thrilled that his knowledge and bird-spotting skills helped you add so many incredible species to your life list (and perhaps it’s best the jaguar stayed hidden!). We also sincerely appreciate your thoughtful feedback regarding the order of activities. The itinerary is structured this way for a very important reason: if we do not visit the waterfall first, it will be closed by the time we return from the rainforest, and we would miss the opportunity to enjoy it altogether. Since the waterfall is located along the route to the rainforest, starting there ensures guests can experience it. For this reason, we always recommend bringing extra clothing, and we do note this clearly in the tour description. We also make sure to inform guests in advance that all locations have restrooms and changing facilities available, so everyone can be as comfortable as possible throughout the day. Thank you again for your kind words and valuable input. We’re very glad the tour was satisfying overall and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in the future!

Incredible Light Blue
The Tenorio National Park is where the main features of Rio Celeste are viewable. It is easy to get to it and the entry fee is reasonable, and inexpensive if you are a national. It is mostly an easy hike along well established trails, except the stairs at the waterfall. The heat and humidity make the decent and climb back up seem much more taxing than you might think. There is an incredible view of the light blue waterfall. We also enjoyed several views of the river, a bubbling pool, and the incredible surrounding jungle and wildlife. It is absolutely incredible to see such a vibrant blue color contrasting the green jungle. It is well worth the visit.

4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa Hermosa.
How much does 4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour cost?
+
Prices start at $185 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa Hermosa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa Hermosa is not rushed.
Is 4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 63 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa Hermosa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour?
+
Around 22 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa Hermosa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa Hermosa and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 4 in 1 Sloth Encounter, Rio Celeste, Waterfalls, Rainforest tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa Hermosa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa Hermosa?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa Hermosa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sloth Wildlife Experience, Coffee, Chocolate & Waterfall, Guachipelin Adventure Volcano Zipline River Tubing Combo, Adventure in Volcano Combo Tour! - Zip Line, Waterfall, Hot Springs and More. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa Hermosa?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa Hermosa?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
