Salkantay 4 day trek
We just finished the 4 day Salkantay Trek. We had 5 people with varying abilities. We had an amazing team from Sam Travel, including 2 guides, 2 cooks and a horseman. The food was amazing. The accommodations were very comfortable. Our guides Edwin Camala and Jimmy were amazing. The trek was challenging, the views were amazing. The guides were very understanding of the slower pace of a couple of us. They were encouraging and saying it was our trek. While I was hearing guides from other companies telling people keep moving, faster. Very happy with our choice. Thank you Edwin and Jimmy!!!

Salkantay
This hike like many others in Peru was a once in a lifetime experience, I leave with found memories, pictures of incredible landscapes and the pleasure of having met a great group of people. The company did their job, the information was clear, the food was delicious but the experience was made truly special by our guide Jhonny. Not only did he guide us along the way, sharing his knowledge and expertise (of years) but he treated us like family to the point that we as a group felt like one. I have donde treks in Peru before but never have I felt so at ease with a guide and as a women traveling in a country with a heavy machismo culture that says a lot. Above recommending the company whose chefs and facilities were good what made the experience at the end of the day was the guide.

Wonderful 4 Day Salkantay Trek!!
I loved, loved, loved my experience with Sam Travel! We had such an amazing adventure with a truly special group of people. Our guide, Jhony, was attentive, fun, and made sure we all felt safe, healthy, and prepared for each day. The accommodations were wonderful: hot showers, delicious meals, and even snacks provided every day. I was definitely hoping for a jacuzzi at the end of day two (sadly, that didn’t happen…) but the experience was still incredible and completely worth it. By the end of the four days, I didn’t just leave with memories — I left with a new family. I couldn’t recommend Sam Travel enough. Book it!!

Why this scores 84
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
4-Day Salkantay Trek: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does 4-Day Salkantay Trek cost?
+
Prices start at $747 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 4-Day Salkantay Trek take?
+
Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is 4-Day Salkantay Trek worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 84 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 329 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 4-Day Salkantay Trek?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 4-Day Salkantay Trek suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 96-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book 4-Day Salkantay Trek?
+
Around 115 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 4-Day Salkantay Trek start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
