Great Safari
Had a great time on Safari. Started off with a smooth transfer from the airport, stopping on the way for some lunch. The accommodation and food throughout the stay were great. The guides for both the National Park and the reserve were very informative and attentive, making the experience so much better. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced tour.
Response from the operator: Hi Liam Thanks for a great review. We are pleased to note your appreciation of the smooth transfers and great accommodation and guides. Our guides love their jobs - being in the bush is seen as a great privilege and they pass on their passion to our guests. Thanks for a good recommendation. Be well

Into the Wild
When my wife and I arrived at Tremisana Game Lodge, we were immediately treated to some incredible wildlife scenes. Marc, one of the game rangers, informed us right away that there was a lion kill close to the lodge. Eagerly, we hopped into the game vehicle, hardly believing our good fortune. Upon arriving at the site, our excitement grew as we learned that two lionesses who had made the kill were chased away by a clan of hyenas. It was astonishing to witness the hyenas gnawing at the carcass while the lionesses lurked in the background, clearly dismayed. The next day, we embarked on a guided bush walk down to the Olifants River, marking our first time viewing wildlife outside of a game vehicle. On our way to a closer parking spot by the river, the game rangers didn't overlook the wildlife we encountered. I was particularly grateful for this, as we saw an elephant calf that was only about a day old. It was the first time I had seen such a small elephant in the wild, and observing the interactions between the herd and the calf was truly beautiful. By this point, I was already content with our wildlife experience, but the best part was yet to come. The guided bush walk turned out to be the most incredible experience, and I cannot recommend it enough. Walking down to the river and being exposed to the elements made the whole experience feel even more immersive. Walking on the same tracks and riverbeds as the animals, I felt a profound sense of connection to nature, which brought an amazing feeling of calm and contentment. Additionally, our knowledgeable game rangers, Marc and Luke, educated us about the hippos, elephants, antelopes, and various birds we encountered. Upon returning to the city, the contrast between the hustle and bustle and nature's soothing effect was stark. Thank you, Viva Safaris, and all the friendly staff. We will most certainly be back and cannot wait for our next wildlife adventure!
Response from the operator: Hi Richard Your review is really wild with emotion - thank you. You had superb luck to see lions displaced from their meal right at Tremisana within minutes of your arrival !!! We are moved by your sincere and profound appreciation of the immersion into Nature that you felt - wow !!! That feeling of " calm and contentment " is something that you will recall especially in times of stress and the "hustle and bustle" of the city. Thanks for your praise of our friendly staff, especially Marc and Luke who are exceptionally good at what they do. Be well

Great experience!
Very interesting guided drives and walks with useful explanations. Great staff. Nice food and nice places to stay, but only one day in Kruger and almost two days of traveling there. Bloody cold in July, I would were warmer clothes for night times (camping in Winter is challenging) and woolen socks and good shoes for early morning walks.

Amazingly good value safari!
Absolutely fantastic experience with Viva Safaris from start to finish! Accommodation for one night at Tremisana Lodge was a cosy little house with comfy bed and great shower. Two nights at Marc’s Treehouse Camp in a tent was amazing - large spacious tent with proper beds, electricity and a fan, with showers and toilet right next door - clean, nice, hot water. Accommodation exceeded expectations and I’ve done other budget safaris in Africa! All staff were friendly and helpful a the guided walks were both great and it was so good to be out of the vehicle for a while. Food was plentiful, simple, home style and great - catered for vegetarians. Appreciated coffee at 5am before the walks and home baked cakes and muffins at different times during the safari! The vehicle was fabulous - open sides and front door cool and lovely breeze with great view for everyone (max 9). Animal wise - our day in Kruger was amazing! Saw lots of animals even though it was raining part of the day. We didn’t see elephants or lions or rhinos outside of Kruger but were unlucky - we saw hippos, buffalo, a hyena, giraffe. This safari was exceptionally good value and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Sleeping in a tent is a must! The sounds of the insects and animals was something I’ll never forget!
Response from the operator: Hi Kate Thank you for an AMAZINGLY GOOD review. We are elated in your superlative compliments of the accommodation at both Tremisana Lodge and the tents at Marcs Treehouse Lodge. We are thrilled that the tent exceeded your expectations and was better than all the other budget accommodation you have previously experienced in Africa. We are grateful for your appreciation of the food, staff and game viewing vehicles. It is good to know that you had such great animal sightings and that you so appreciated and savoured the sounds of the African night. Be well

My experience
The staff were very welcoming, the itinerary was well Managed , the accommodation was as expected I do feel a bottle of water or juice should be offered with the meals . Also feel that the meals although very tasty, portion sizes are a little on the small side . There is option to have more, however in a crowd it is embarrassing for the consumer to get up and ask . Overall a very good well organised experience It would also be nice if the staff offered to help with the luggage when taking you to your place of stay within the camps
Response from the operator: Hi Joanne Thank you for sharing your experience. We are pleased that overall you were satisfied. I have copied this review to all managers at all our lodges and am sure they will take your constructive suggestions seriously. Be well

4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Johannesburg.
How much does 4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari cost?
+
Prices start at $904 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Johannesburg usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari take?
+
Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Johannesburg is not rushed.
Is 4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Johannesburg, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 96-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Johannesburg can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Johannesburg and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 4 Day Budget Kruger National Park Safari start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Johannesburg within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Johannesburg?
+
On Outty we rank every Johannesburg experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soweto and Johannesburg Exclusive Full Day Guided Tour, Ultimate Johannesburg Soweto Experience with Apartheid Museum, Full Day Ultimate Pilanesberg National Park Safari from Johannesburg or Pretoria. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Johannesburg?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Johannesburg?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
