Incredible food with amazing stories and a friendly guide

Sian met us at the subway station and immediately whisked us away to a small shop where a hot pot feast was already prepared and waiting on us. After that she led us on a three-hour journey of Chinese history and culture told through delicious food and drink -- from yogurt drinks conjuring memories of the Mongol invaders who build modern Beijing to the difference between the northern preference for noodles over the southern taste for rice. Sian was incredible and gave my friends and I a night we will never forget.

Response from the operator: Hi Dan, thank you for the review! We’re thrilled Sian helped you and your friends enjoy the evening. Thanks again for joining us!

    Enjoyable evening spent in Beijing

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour because we had an excellent guide in Sian Li who was very knowledgeable and friendly as well as the Australian couplie who were on the tour with us 3. However some of the stops were rushed particularly the first venue ( Mongolian Hot pot and the hand cut noodle stop) Fabolous location and great food in both . We would have liked more time to cook all of the food we were given and to finish beer/ soft drink in the Mongolian Hot pot rather than bringing it with us. Our recommendation would be to remove one of the other venues to allow time to enjoy the others ( possible the street food stop to share the fried noodle. ) It would have nice to have finished with the Hot Pot and have the Huton/ Chicken wings earlier in the trip.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed the tour and that Sian helped make the experience knowledgeable, friendly and memorable. We’re also glad you enjoyed the Mongolian hotpot and hand-cut noodle stops. Those are two of our favorite parts of the route, so we’re happy to hear the food and locations stood out. Thank you as well for your thoughtful comments about the pacing. Our Old Beijing Dinner tour is designed to include a wide range of dishes, neighborhoods and dining experiences. We appreciate your suggestions and will share your feedback with our Beijing team. Thanks again for joining us, and we hope to eat with you again on your next trip to China.

3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does 3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is 3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is 3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour?

    +

Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 3-Hour Private Old Beijing Hutong Dinner Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
