This is the second time I have done this particular trip (last one 11-years ago with my daughter, this time my husband). Some good changes have been made. Better break stop location, stop at limoncello factory, time in Sorrento before hotel drop off. Hotel was lovely, Capri was led by tour guide versus previous time on our own., and a special lunch location with great food! Pompeii was done on way back leaving us time to hang out at hotel Also, loved the pick up and drop off directly at hotel. Great value on this package!

Good whirl wind tour of Sorrento, Capri & Pompeii

This tour accomplished what I was wanting to get out of it - the ability to see Sorrento, Capri and Pompeii and not have to figure out the logistics of getting there/ back from Rome. However it’s a lot to visit in such a short time! if you just want a small ‘taste’ of each area, this is a great tour for you. If you want to really explore and immerse, this is not a good fit, The guides do a great job although it is challenging because these areas are so crowded. The headsets are a perfect solution allowing you to hear the guide in crowded places. The tour operator made all the transitions smooth. From the description I thought it was a small group tour. But for travel from Rome to Sorrento and back you transfer to a large bus. I didn’t realize this and we had been trying not to be on large tour busses because of motion sickness challenges. The bus itself was nice and comfortable and was not booked to capacity, so this gave room to stretch out. The downside of meals included at the hotel is you miss out on experiencing a variety of restaurants, but it was very convenient for breakfast when tours start early. There were multiple entree, appetizer and desert choices for dinner.

Good if you want a no frills, no hassle trip

This is an easy way to go to Sorrento, Isle of Capri, Blue Grotto and Pompeii. If you want to also see Positano you pay an extra 70 euro on arrival. Hotel is nice enough, the food there is a pleasant and plentiful buffet. It's away from the town but they provide a limited shuttle bus service. The whole trip is multilingual except for pompeii. The pompeii guide was very informative, the other guides spoke very little, their main job was to just get us from a to b. The guide on the way there spent almost the entire time talking on the phone and to the driver, and some of his comments were offensive. The one on the way back was good, so they aren't all like that. They pick you up and drop you off at your hotel in Rome, provided you are staying in the central area. Last time I look this trip i stayed at Tramontano - it was spectacular and right in town on the edge of the cliff. Communication with the provider was good but they send you your welcome letter in Word format so you may have trouble opening it on your android or ios device. They don't know how to pdf it. If so, download the Word app. I was travelling in 35-40c heat, with a special needs person and we both had a large suitcase, so this worked well for me. You could also do this trip by train and book your own accom trips to capri/ blue grotto/pompeii when you get there. There are lots of nice hotels right in the heart or sorrento, at a similar price to the one we stayed in. Like the Tramontano

Not well organized, hotel...

Not well organized, hotel was nice but food was horrible. The Capri trip was very nice and the Pompeii was informational

AWFUL! Don’t do it!

Awful experience, complete waste of money. Did not get services/activities offered. No Limoncello tasting, no attendant/no guide Day 1, no alternatives given for Capri (not offered during the off season), no transportation or information to dinners offered, logistics were a nightmare. Arrived at the hotel at 10 AM and told we couldn’t check in till 3. The hotel had to offer us assistance to fix the accommodation. No assistance in getting to the dinner offered (told to show up with a voucher). We had to figure out everything on our own and were left largely abandoned in a strange city with no help. When we arrived day 1 and asked the guide who drove us there for assistance, she repeatedly had to call the office and kept saying “I don’t know, you know as much as I do” which is crazy from a tour guide. She did call the office repeatedly to try to fix our issues or answer our questions, but it largely went in circles. Tour company told us to call Viator. Was on the phone with Viator over an hour. They kept saying we needed to call the tour company, saying “their site needs to be updated”. Viator kept saying “you need to call the tour company, we get our information from them”. There are no alternatives offered for Capri (not offered during the off season). No assistance in arranging other activities or alternatives when we asked. In the end, very little got resolved. No one was able to help. We were left abandoned in a strange city. We had to spend hours solving logistical problems. Some information is blatantly wrong. Some information is very misleading. Some things are aren’t exactly wrong but it’s not clear of falls into “lies of omission”. In the end we largely overpaid for and very sub oar experience.
