Exceptional Safari Experience—Dark Hills Uganda!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Dark Hills Uganda. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organised, which made the entire trip seamless and stress-free. As a solo traveller, safety was something I was quite concerned about going in—but I felt completely secure throughout, which made a huge difference to my overall experience. The trip itself exceeded all expectations—we were lucky enough to see all of the Big Five, which still feels surreal! A special shoutout to Francis, who was extremely prompt, professional, and courteous in all communication, making planning effortless. And Chris, our guide, was truly outstanding—an excellent driver, deeply knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. He added so much value to the experience. Even when we faced an unforeseen issue with the car breaking down, both Francis and Chris went above and beyond to handle the situation quickly and efficiently. They ensured an alternate vehicle was arranged without delay and made sure I got back to the airport on time—something I really appreciated. I couldn’t recommend Dark Hills Uganda more highly. A truly memorable and well-managed experience from beginning to end.

Response from the operator: Hi Aishwarya, Thank you so much for your kind words. We are very happy you enjoyed the trip and felt safe throughout. It means a lot to us. We hope to welcome you again in Uganda 😊

Great experience, lots of animals and fun

This safari was an amazing experience. Our guide’s name was Nasser, super friendly and was very experienced making our stay memorable. We got to see leopards (from a distance), lions, gazelle, giraffes, rhinos (at the sanctuary) , hippos and more. Dry season from what we were told was a good time to go (great weather albeit maybe hot for some). No bugs during the day but they came out at night. Our lodge didn’t have AC and some bugs managed to get into the room so that wasn’t ideal but staff were all very friendly and lots of great food was served at the lodge for supper. Guide picked us up at our hotel in Kampala, and dropped us off at airport even bringing us to the zoo in between as we had extra time after safari and wanted to feed some animals at the zoo. Note, we also completed payment using pesapal which worked fine.

Response from the operator: Hi Aidan, Thank you for the detailed review! We are glad you had an amazing safari with Nasser and enjoyed the wildlife experience. We appreciate the honest feedback and hope to welcome you back to Uganda again.

Well-organized and unforgettable Murchison Falls experience

We had an unforgettable 3-day trip to Murchison Falls organized by Francis from Dark Hills. The whole team was incredibly responsive, attentive, and accommodating, especially when we needed to make last-minute adjustments for family reasons. Our private Land Cruiser was very comfortable throughout the journey from Kampala to the Murchison Falls area and back, making the long drives smooth and enjoyable. The river lodge was a real highlight: a stunning setting, beautiful bungalows, delicious food, and genuinely fantastic service. All activities exceeded our expectations, and our guide and driver, Nasser, managed everything perfectly. He looked after us so well and timed each experience flawlessly. We were also grateful to have Erik capturing the moments along the way. This trip was a joint birthday gift for my partner and me, and we absolutely loved every minute. It’s an experience we will cherish for a long, long time. Thank you to the whole team for making it so special!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We are very happy that you enjoyed your trip to Murchison Falls. We will share your nice words with Nasser, Erik, and the whole team. It was our pleasure to make your birthday trip special. We hope to see you again!

You Owe it to Yourself!

The experience was wonderful. I literally thought to myself as the trek began, “even if we don’t find the gorillas, this is incredibly fun!” Donny was my driver and he was great, offering great insight into Ugandan life and culture. You should make sure not to miss this trip if you come to Uganda!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really happy you had a great time and enjoyed the tour. It means a lot to us to hear that you had a good experience. Thanks again, and we hope to see you again someday!

Worth Every Penny!

Brian was really great to meet and get to know over the past few days, and he is clearly quite comfortable with all the nuances of driving throughout the area, has good relationships with the park rangers, lodge staff, and restaurant staff, and is friendly and knowledgeable. He literally went out of his way to make sure we got to see a lion as close as possible! The tour overall is great, with so many opportunities to observe and explore wildlife and even some unexpected close encounters with elephants!😂 I highly recommend it for the value for cost as well as the time, being able to see as many different amazing animals as we did over just three days is definitely a flagship highlight of my time in Uganda.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re really happy you had a great time and enjoyed the tour. It means a lot to us to hear that you had a good experience. Thanks again, and we hope to see you again someday!

3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kampala.

How much does 3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos cost?

+

Prices start at $865 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kampala usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos take?

+

Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kampala is not rushed.

Is 3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 63 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kampala, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 72-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book 3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos?

+

Around 22 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kampala can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kampala and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 3-Day Ultimate Big Five Safari - Murchison Falls & Rhinos start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kampala within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kampala?

+

On Outty we rank every Kampala experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kampala Heart of Walking Adventure, Half day Kampala City Motor Bike Tours, Full Day Whitewater Rafting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kampala?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kampala?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
