Beautiful boat, excellent service, but one night is probably enough
We booked the Azura 3D2N cruise directly with the company and thoroughly enjoyed our time on board. The boat itself is beautiful and the staff were excellent — incredibly accommodating, particularly with our requests around food as I was travelling with a picky eater. We paid around $1,500 AUD for the cruise, plus approximately $200 AUD onboard for drinks. While it was a great experience overall, I’m not sure it quite represented value for money at that price point. The evenings were fairly quiet after dinner, with karaoke being the main entertainment, and it didn’t really get much atmosphere. The daytime activity also wasn’t quite to our taste — Viet Hai Village, kayaking and swimming in the bay weren’t really what we were looking for. We didn’t realise that staying on the main boat to lounge and swim was an option, which we probably would have preferred. Breakfast was also a little underwhelming. The breakfast window is only 7:00–7:30am, which felt very early and quite rushed. The buffet offering was very basic — essentially some fruit, deli meats and cheese, with pho and eggs available to order. No drinks are included with breakfast either; everything is chargeable. We were also disappointed to miss the advertised squid fishing. We went to the back of the boat to participate but were signalled “no” by the crew. We later discovered that other guests had been able to do it, so clearer communication would have been appreciated. Overall, though, it was a lovely experience. I’d recommend doing the 1-night cruise rather than 2 nights, and if you’re looking for something lively or particularly social, this probably isn’t the cruise for you. We also opted for the transfer back to Hanoi, which was excellent — a very comfortable, spacious bus and a great way to finish the trip.

Wow, absolutely amazing!! The boat was exceptional, very clean, gorgeous bedrooms and bath looking out to sea, and a lovely balcony, couldn’t ask for anything more! The food was insane and the staff were very accommodating. Day trips were planned great with a boat tour on one day, lots to do and very relaxing, highly recommend!

Great deception: Cruise without sailing
Azure Cruises was by far the biggest disappointment of our entire Vietnam trip. The ship itself is new, visually very successful and the cabins are really nice. Even the dinner was good. But that was already a positive. What is sold here as a luxury cruise is not really a cruise. The ship is barely moving. In two days maybe an hour – once around a rock and back again. Those expecting a real cruise will be massively disappointed here. The entire concept is designed to get guests through as quickly as possible. Most of it stays only one night. As a guest with two nights you clearly feel that you should spend as little time as possible on board. Instead, you are sent on long, poorly organized trips that are disappointing in quality and eat up unnecessarily much time. Breakfast is absolutely unworthy of a so-called luxury product. Hardly any choice, simple white bread, and the absolute low point: Coffee and tea are to be paid extra on the last morning. Even more problematic is dealing with guests: You are actively urged to pay cash, otherwise you will simply be charged 4%. You don't get a decent bill. This seems anything but serious. Complaint management is unprofessional and evasive. No specific criticism is addressed. After almost four weeks in Vietnam, exclusively in high-end hotels and resorts, this was the only accommodation that really disappointed us. Conclusion: For day guests or party tourists, the concept may work. However, if you’re expecting a real, high-quality cruise, you should take a big step around Azure Cruises. Here, the marketing simply does not match the reality.
