A Perfect First Trip to Scotland: Beautiful Scenery, Great Stories, and an Excellent Guide

We only had a few days to be in Scotland and wanted to see as much as possible. This tour was a great way to do just that. First, Scotland is beautiful. Second, Tiegan was a fantastic guide/driver. I enjoyed that she spoke while we were on the bus and then would let us explore on our own. We used her recommendations a few times over the tour (The Crofter restaurant on the last day was a favorite). Make sure to pack comfortable outdoor walking shoes, something warm to wear (even in the summer), and rain protection! Our 12-year-old loved the stories on the bus and talking to Tiegan about a current project. A few more hiking opportunities would make an already good trip even better. Although I guess we will just have to find a way to make it back to Scotland!

    Highlands Trip was Next Level

My family and I did a 3 day excursion from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye and back. Our tour guide was Liz and she was exceptional to say the very least. The knowledge she poured out while driving this massive bus down tiny roads was next level. The drive up was amazing, seeing the beautiful land and mountains really was breathtaking. I can't recommend this tour enough, if anything, I wish we had more time to explore even more.

Fun and More on the Hogwarts Express!

Today we had an amazing day with our tour guide Laurie! She gave us a well informed tour as we went by the Glenfinnan Viaduct, Forth Bridge, Glen Coe, and other places. We rode a train to Fort William which had beautiful views. She also gave us a wonderful surprise at the end! The steam train from the movie was not able to run today so inquire ahead of time. We still had a wonderful time thanks to Laurie. I would recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely 5 star review. Laurie is a fantastic driver/guide and we will pass your feedback on. We hope to see you again soon. Kind Regards, Keith

Thursday, October 3rd. Paul our driver and guide was amazing. He was such a safe and careful driver, entertaining knowledgeable and fun. Fav memory

This tour might have been my favorite memory from my trip to Scotland! Teigan was an outstanding driver and had me at the edge of my seat with all of her stories along the way. I was a little nervous about this tour because I get a lot of anxiety with traveling (what if I get carsick or have to go to the bathroom or blah blah blah) but to my relief, I ended up having fun and feeling relaxed the entire way. Plenty of breaks to stretch our legs, get beautiful photos, and see coos!!!! Train was magical, people we toured with were cool, and tour guide herself was outstanding. I’m so glad I was able to do this tour!

Response from the operator: Wow, thank you for such a glowing review! We’re absolutely thrilled that this tour became a favourite memory from your trip to Scotland. It’s wonderful to hear that Teigan's stories and driving skills helped ease your travel anxieties and made you feel relaxed throughout the journey. We understand that traveling can sometimes bring worries, so we're glad the well-timed breaks and opportunities to enjoy the scenery (and the coos!) made a difference. It's great to know the train ride and the company of fellow travellers added to the magic of the experience. Thank you again for joining us, and we’re so happy you had such a fun, relaxing time. We’d love to welcome you back on another adventure in the future! Victoria

3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Edinburgh.

How much does 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride cost?

    +

Prices start at $721 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Edinburgh usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride take?

    +

Plan for about 72 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Edinburgh is not rushed.

Is 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Edinburgh, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 72-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Edinburgh can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Edinburgh and add a light layer if any part of the 72-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Edinburgh within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Edinburgh?

    +

On Outty we rank every Edinburgh experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Chocolatarium Chocolate Tour Experience in Edinburgh, The Mountebank Comedy Walk of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Old Town: Historical Guided Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Edinburgh?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Edinburgh?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What happens to 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride if the weather is bad?

    +

It generally runs rain or shine, so dress for the forecast in Edinburgh. Standard cancellation terms apply: free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.

What do travelers say about 3 Day Isle of Skye Tour from Edinburgh with Train Ride?

    +
