The best choice for visiting and getting to know Rio.
just now New First of all, meeting Jean Christophe was a real pleasure, a very beautiful person. With Jean Christophe, we were first able to visit the Vidigal favela in an unusual way, to immerse ourselves and better understand how the favelas, the inhabitants, and the city of Rio work; we ended the visit with a very good meal shared in his canteen. 24 hours later, we were able to take a more extensive tour of Rio in his superb 1962 VW bus, passing through the mangroves populated by caimans and capybaras, then we continued through the beautiful Tijuca Forest; he knew how to constantly adapt the day according to the weather conditions, which were not the most favorable that day. With Jean Christophe, we were able to discover the center, iconic sites, the Cachaça temple where we ate and bought rare beverages, secret spots, and get to know the Carioca culture a little better; a superb day, superb memories.

Great
Wonderful experience. The view from the top of the "two brothers" is dazzling. The tour of the Favela in the company of Jean Christophe was both informative and rich in emotion. The presence of Jean Christophe, who lives there, allowed us to feel completely safe. A must-do without hesitation...

The best tour of Vidigal!
Jean gave us a breathtaking tour of Vidigal and hike up Two Brothers mountain. He really looked after us the whole time and we felt incredibly safe in his company. He was very knowledgable about the area, full of information - I would highly recommend his tours!

Surprising Highlight of Rio
I originally booked the tour to be a combination Dois Irmaos hike and Vidigal Favela tour. The latter was more of an afterthought for me; I was more interested in the hike. Well, it turned out the favela tour was fascinating. Jean takes you not just on the main drag, but he'll include the parts that can't be filmed too. I will say no more, but it was definitely a highlight -one that will have to live on only in my memory. He also happens to live in the favela, and he even showed me his place. Don't get me wrong -the Dois Irmaos hike is amazing. I would say generally it offers the best views in Rio, because you can see both Christ the Redeemeer, as well as Sugarloaf. So definitely do the combo tour, if Jean still offers it. Just pick a clear day. If Dois Irmaos is in the clouds, you'll see very little.

Wonderful trip in Vidigal, an unforgettable experience
It was an incredible tour and whole new experience for me to travel to Favéla, the amazing view and how the history of constructing Favéla left deep impression on me. I really appreciate the whole tour with Jean, who is a very nice and easy-going guide. With his professional and detailed explanation, I enjoyed the whole trip! Highly recommend to visit Favéla with Jean C!

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rio de Janeiro.
How much does 2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela cost?
+
Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rio de Janeiro usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rio de Janeiro is not rushed.
Is 2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 115 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rio de Janeiro, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela?
+
Around 40 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rio de Janeiro can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rio de Janeiro and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 2h30 circuit in the Vidigal Favela start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rio de Janeiro within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Rio de Janeiro?
+
On Outty we rank every Rio de Janeiro experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rio's Full Day: Selarón Steps, Christ & Sugarloaf – Tickets & Lunch Included, Rio: Tijuca Rainforest Hike, Wildlife, Waterfalls & Caves, Explore the Best of Tijuca Forest – Hike to Peaks, Caves & Falls. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Rio de Janeiro?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Rio de Janeiro?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
