What you get

    About this experience

You will absolutely be stunned by the amazing beaches and panoramas on the island, while you're silently gliding over crystal clear water with the kayak, you'll be able to see the underwater fauna and flora. On the way you'll see lot's of birds , crabs, shellfish and many unique spots because many sites, we visit on the tour are not accesable for the boat companies as their engines have a huge impact on the environment in the natural park. We travel silently, without nasty gasoline smells and doing so, offer the only ecological alternative, with zero impact and all respect for nature to visit the natural park. Besides all the above, you will also catch a glimpse of the shelfish cultivation, a tides mill, Armona village, Lagoa dos patos, ...

    3. Ria Formosa Natural Park

Serving as a transitional area between land and sea, the Ria Formosa is a vast lagoon system that stretches for 60 km along the coast of the eastern Algarve. It covers an area of approximately 18,000 hectares. It is the most important wetland zone in southern Portugal and features a wide variety of habitats: barrier islands, marshes, sandbanks, dunes, saltpans, freshwater and brackish lakes, water courses, scrubland and farmland; all of which is also propitious to a tremendous variety of fauna and flora. Classed as a wetland zone of international interest, the Ria Formosa is particularly noted for its birdlife. The area is a winter home for birds from north and central Europe, as well as being on migration routes. From a botanical point of view, the particular highlight is the vegetation on the dunes and in the marshes. A true nursery for marine species, it is also an area where bivalve molluscs are produced.

    Kayaking - islands and nature

Fantastic day out with Kurt. His knowledge about the area and expertise with handling a family of mixed ability cannot be topped.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the great review Emma. It's already a blessing to share all this beauty with my clients and if we can do a little extra, it's even more rewarding. It is also lovely to see what the experience does for people with and without disabilities. I can only be thankfull to get the chance to do this job daily. Thank you so much for the lovely time we spend and all the best for the entire family! Kurt -&Spike-

    Fabulous time on the water

Fabulous few hours on the water and super lovely operator:/ chap running it, really lovely and helpful and only too pleased to share helpful tips for enjoying the local area and bird and marine life. Would definitely recommend and Spike the dog was gorgeous too. 🙂

Response from the operator: 😊 The passion for the park is our greatest motivation. Also, the fauna and flora is very near to our heart. It's a true blessing to being able to share all this beauty and nature's wonders with people. I guess it shows... 🤣 Thank you so much for the lovely review and your visit! Great holidays and always welcome! 🐕 & Kurt

    Not serious

The outing did not take place. The provider had forgotten. Very disappointing. Fortunately, Viator took charge and processed the refund immediately.

Response from the operator: We absolutely didn't forget your visit. We simply didn't receive the request. We were called by the provider 15 minutes after the start of the activity. It is not serious to write a review without knowing all the facts. We are very sorry that your tour didn't happen but pointing your finger to the wrong conpany, is not what is not serious. Besides tripadvisor contacted us to ask if we wanted to refund completely. So the full refund was our decision, not tripadvisors. I hope that the rest of your holiday was more satisfactory and better arranged by your touroperator.

2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Faro.

How much does 2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa cost?

    +

Prices start at $77 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Faro usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Faro is not rushed.

Is 2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Faro, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Faro can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Faro and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 2 Hours Kayak Island Tour in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Faro within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Faro?

    +

On Outty we rank every Faro experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ria Formosa - Boat trip to the 3 Islands: Armona | Culatra Island | Lighthouse, From Faro: Benagil Cave, Marinha & Carvoeiro [Full-Day Tour], Ria Formosa Natural Park and Islands Boat Cruise from Faro. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Faro?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Faro?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
