2-Hour RIB Boat Whale Watching Tour from Reykjavik

Heads up if you're booking a RIB tour

Our RIB tour was cancelled once we arrived on site, with no apology whatsoever for the inconvenience. We were offered to switch to the classic boats instead, since even moving to another day, no RIB was available. While chatting with other passengers on the boat, we learned that this kind of mishap happens fairly regularly, under different pretexts (weather, breakdown...). If you're set on seeing whales by RIB, it's better to choose a company with several RIBs in their fleet, schedule your tour on your very first day in Reykjavík, in case it needs to be pushed to the next day. Thankfully, the crew on board the boat was far friendlier than the staff at the dock. A lovely boat trip nonetheless.

Great for the family

This was a lovely experience. We saw a couple whales pretty closely, harbor porpoises, and of course, puffins. Our guide was warm and informative. The RIB boat was fun and more comfortable than it appeared at first glance.

Close up with nature

Wonderful experience seeing humpback whale up fairly close, stayed in the area watching for it resurfacing as guide didn’t feel it had gone into a deep dive. Saw many puffins flying past the boat several with food in their beaks. Didn’t see any dolphins, the trip before had seen dolphins and a whales tail On way back into port stopped close to island where there was a mass of puffins, however guide didn’t feel say some had already started to leave the area Was not out on the rib for full 2 hours as previous trip were late back in, lost 15 minutes

Whales and Puffins in Iceland

The lady guide was excellent and we managed to see a humpback whale playing and diving in the ocean. Also, the Puffin island visit was very interesting, what a fascinating bird the Puffin is.

Wow! Amazing

Best tour ever. Got really lucky and saw whales jumping, waving. Lived it! Alesso was the best and also Blanca and Laura. Super crew! Highly recommended.
