Great Tour Guides - Not a Great Company
I loved the itinerary on our July 21-30, 2026 private tour for a group of seven. The destinations were incredible, and the local guides were outstanding. They deserve five stars. Unfortunately, the tour company itself does not. If I could separate the itinerary and guides from the company, I would. The company would receive zero stars for communication, customer service, and accountability. Problems started before we even left home. Our original contact had apparently left the company, but no one told us. We continued reaching out with questions and received no response. Then, as we were heading to the airport, we finally learned he no longer worked there and were informed of strict luggage restrictions on our domestic flights, resulting in unnecessary last-minute repacking. When we arrived in Lima at 5:00 a.m., one of our rooms was ready, but despite the company's relationship with the hotel and knowing our arrival time, we were not allowed access until 10:00 a.m. after an overnight international flight. The hotel near Machu Picchu was the most disappointing accommodation of the trip. The room was not clean, had no air conditioning, and required us to keep the windows open at night for ventilation. Street noise and insects made it difficult to sleep. There were also several logistical failures. On our transfer from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, we left our hotel at 6:00 a.m. without breakfast-to-go boxes, which had been provided on other early departures. Upon arrival to Puerto Maldonado, we were told our guide would meet us at noon, but the lodge would not release our boxed lunches early. As a result, we had to purchase breakfast while waiting. We ultimately did not depart until 1:30 p.m. The company told us this was always the schedule, but our guide later explained the delay was caused by a late flight carrying other guests joining the group. Once again, the information we received was dishonest. We enjoyed our stay in the Amazon near Puerto Maldonado, and the guides and excursions were excellent. However, important information about the lodge was never communicated. Travelers should know there is no air conditioning, no electrical outlets in the rooms, and lights are only available during certain hours. The lodge does offer Starlink internet and charging stations in common areas, but this should be disclosed in advance so guests know what to expect. The most frustrating issue occurred on our return trip. Instead of booking a direct flight from Puerto Maldonado to Lima, the company booked us through Cusco and specifically told us we would remain on the same aircraft. That information was incorrect. We were required to deplane, recheck in, and obtain new boarding passes, causing us to miss our flight. We ultimately had to rebook the flights ourselves, resulting in further delays on our final day. This seemed to be part of a larger pattern of prioritizing cost over traveler experience. Several flights involved very early departures, long layovers, or unnecessary connections when more convenient options appeared to be available. While cost is always a consideration, when booking a premium private tour, we expected better flight arrangements and greater transparency. When we finally arrived in Lima, our usual driver was not there because, as he later confirmed, the company never contacted him. Instead, we were split between two taxi vans. One was dirty, and the driver repeatedly looked at a GPS device while driving to the point that several passengers felt unsafe. What disappointed me most was not that mistakes happened. Travel is unpredictable. It was the lack of communication, inaccurate information, and lack of accountability afterward. I requested reasonable compensation for the numerous service failures and never received a response. Radio silence. I rarely write negative reviews, but future travelers should know that while the itinerary and local guides were excellent, the company managing the experience fell far short of expectations. They need to improve their communication, honesty, and customer service.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly pleased that you enjoyed Peru, appreciated the carefully designed itinerary, and recognized the outstanding work of our local guides. Their commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences is something we value deeply. We are naturally disappointed that your overall impression of our company does not reflect the extensive planning, coordination, and continuous assistance provided before and throughout your 10-day private journey. While a few operational situations did occur—some involving third-party providers such as airlines, hotels, and airport services—our team remained available at all times to provide support and solutions. We also believe it is important to note that your complete itinerary was successfully delivered as planned, including all destinations, transfers, flights, accommodations, excursions, and guided experiences, allowing your group to enjoy the trip you had envisioned. We always welcome constructive feedback and continuously look for ways to improve. However, we also believe that the overall quality of an experience should be evaluated as a whole, considering both the many successful moments and the few isolated inconveniences that can occasionally arise during international travel. We sincerely thank you for traveling with us and wish you and your family many wonderful adventures ahead.

It was a really good experience
It was a wonderful experience. We met our guide the day before our departure at our hotel, and he gave us all the information about the trek. We spent the two days with our guide, Roro Sayco, who was fantastic. Thanks to him, we were able to discover Machu Picchu and learn about its history.

It was a great experience to walk on the path built by the Incas and see the remaining structures of their amazing culture. Stiven, our tour guide, was perfectly prepared in terms of history, culture and natural history. We not only learned from him, but also became friends along the way. The program is excellent value for money. I can only recommend it to everyone, adding that it is a route recommended only for regular hikers.

Unique experience with unforgettable views
We did the tour with Stiven and it was really great. The tour was perfect organized, we got a nice lunch package for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was in a restaurant in Aguas Calientes and also good. The hiking was impressive, we enjoyed it a lot. Stiven explained so much about the history, plants, animals and Culture. Additionally he took really good care of the nature and the protection of the national reserve. It was a perfect mix of everything. The highlight of the first day was the view of Machu Picchu from the sun gate. But also the circuit tour 3 on the second day was so impressive, Stiven has an incredible knowledge. I can really recommend this tour, the price is maybe a little bit high but therefore you can enjoy Machu Picchu two times and you really get what you book.

Top Notch Service and an Unforgettable Adventure!
I had an amazing experience on this tour! Flor, the coordinator, was absolutely incredible. She went above and beyond to accommodate several of our needs and always reassured us with her texts saying, "I'm here 24x7 with any help", and she truly meant it. Our tour guide, Eduardo, was equally outstanding. His deep knowledge, active lifestyle, and genuine connection to the culture made the journey incredibly enriching. It was a joy to learn about the heritage and explore the breathtaking grounds of Machu Picchu with him. The hike although not easy, was enjoyable under his guidance, and his clear instructions made navigating back effortless. Flor and Eduardo also arranged special transportation for us so we could be dropped off directly at our hotel in Cusco rather than the center, which was a thoughtful touch. I would absolutely recommend this tour, especially to those who want the flexibility to set their own pace. The rates were incredibly reasonable for the top-notch service we received. Thank you, Flor and Eduardo, for making this an unforgettable experience!

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
2- Days Private Inka Trail: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does 2- Days Private Inka Trail cost?
+
Prices start at $790 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 2- Days Private Inka Trail take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is 2- Days Private Inka Trail worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 2- Days Private Inka Trail?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is 2- Days Private Inka Trail suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 2- Days Private Inka Trail?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 2- Days Private Inka Trail start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Full-Day Humantay Lake Trek (Meals Included), Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in 2- Days Private Inka Trail?
+
Included: One night accomodation; Train journey from Ollantaytambo to km 104 and return from Machu Picchu; Lunch; Ground transportation; and Dinner. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does 2- Days Private Inka Trail include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered, or you can meet at the start point instead from 141 listed pickup locations in and around Cusco. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.
What languages is 2- Days Private Inka Trail offered in?
+
It is offered in English and Spanish. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.

+
