About this experience

Our first stop is at historical Thermopylae! Paying tribute to King Leonidas of Sparta and his 300 Spartan warriors we will visit the amazing monument of his statue which is captivating! Next stop breathtaking Meteora! Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful areas of mainland Greece and its hanging monasteries are one of the country’s most unique attractions. The monasteries are perched on top of towers of sandstone, which for centuries provided totally inaccessible retreats for the monks. They are built on top of rock towers and they provide fantastic views over the plain.  The Meteora Monasteries themselves, besides providing incredible views are full of religious treasures, wall paintings, icons and libraries rich in old manuscripts. Everyday, innumerable visitors gather here from all four corners of the world to meditate and pray. The fascinating landscape was used when filming the Bond film “For Your Eyes Only” (Holy Trinity Monastery).

Meteora with Yannis!

We had an absolutely fantastic time with Yannis. We had done the Corinth tour with Yannis 2years ago and really enjoyed our time with him as a guide. He took the time to explain Greek history to us and was very patient with my 4 young kids. At that time had mentioned this Meteora trip to us. So when we had the chance to return to Greece we made sure that we booked Yannis again! And this tour did not disappoint! Wow! We have travelled to all 7 continents and have been to many beautiful places all over the world and this has become of our most favourite places that we’ve visited. Yet again, Yannis made sure that this trip was memorable and always ensured that we were safe and enjoying our time while avoiding crowds when possible. He made sure that we were well informed of all the places that we stopped or even drove by. His love for the history of Greece is obvious. And he knew when to teach and when to let just us enjoy the views or the experience. Thank you Yannis! Until next time.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your family had another fantastic experience with Yannis, this time in Meteora. It’s amazing to know that even after traveling all over the world, Meteora has become one of your favorite places — and that Yannis helped make it so memorable. He truly loves sharing Greece’s history while making sure everyone enjoys the views and experiences at their own pace. We can’t wait to welcome you back for your next adventure in Greece! Thank you for booking with us. All the best to your family! George & the AGT Team

Group tour of Greece including Athens, Corinth, Meteora and more

Incredible tour with fantastic views. The bus driver makes stops whenever our group needs a break or items from the city. George is so friendly and generous, even distributing free water instead of making us go buy our own.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re delighted you enjoyed the incredible views across Athens, Corinth, Meteora, and beyond. We appreciate your kind words and would love to welcome your group back for another adventure anytime! – The Team at AGT

Meteora and The Hot Gates

Yannis, our guide was a wealth of knowledge. As a history fan soaking up his broad and in depth stories and narrative made our tour so much more interesting and informative. "Oh by the way, Alexander brought his army down this road. ". We enjoyed great local restaurants that he recommended to fit our requests as well. Highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that Yannis’ rich storytelling and deep historical insights made your journey through Meteora and Thermopylae even more captivating. It’s fantastic to hear that his recommendations added to your experience, making it both immersive and enjoyable. We truly appreciate your kind words and recommendation! Warm regards from Athens and the team at AGT.

Fun time at Meteora

We loved the tour very much. Our guide Tas was very knowledgeable and allowed us to really take in the experience. We had enough time to enjoy landscape, sights, and food. He was great in explaining everything to us. He also took great pictures of us and described each of them. I would highly recommend this tour.

How far in advance should I book 2 Day Private Tour of Meteora & Thermopylae From Athens?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. +

On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Athens?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Athens?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
