Oriental Sails rocks!!!
We had a very affordable and relaxing cruise which proved to be a delightful experience. Our tour guide Bin and the staff onboard Oriental Sails were very friendly and catered to all our needs. The food was sumptuous and beautifully presented. The rooms were very nice with lovely linen and old world charm, yet modern. The cooking class was fun and the Tai Chi class a special touch. The trip to all the caves and Ti Top island was well organised and interesting. I highly recommend this cruise for friends, couples or families who want value for money without breaking the bank.

Not a good choice for single travel
I need to say that I was disappointed. Boat is rather old, but that’s not the problem. Bathroom was not the cleanest. My room was next to the kitchen so no real relax. Up to the tour- you cannot pay by card, cash only and they charge on top VAT and service fee. Drinks - not a good quality for what you pay. Food - nothing amazing. Very low key. The “worst” avoid if you are solo traveller. Massive group of French people (nothing against but whole trip was a French party), 3 other couples and me, as a solo traveler. I was feeling out of place. On top - they cruise 1 h, put the anchor and that’s it- I was hoping more for a real cruise
Response from the operator: Dear Mr/ Mrs Sniegula, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback about your 2-day cruise with Oriental Sails. We are truly sorry to learn that the experience did not meet your expectations, especially as a solo traveler. We would like to take this opportunity to better explain a few points you mentioned, to provide clarity for you and for future guests who may be considering this cruise. Suitability for solo travelers Oriental Sails is a traditional cruise that mainly welcomes couples, families, and small groups. In sailings where there is a large group traveling together, the social atmosphere may feel less balanced for solo travelers. We fully understand how this could make you feel isolated, and we sincerely regret that this affected your enjoyment. Going forward, we will make a stronger effort to advise solo travelers on whether this cruise style is the right fit for them. Vessel condition and cabin experience Oriental Sails is designed in a classic wooden style rather than as a modern luxury vessel. While age itself should not impact comfort, your comments regarding bathroom cleanliness and the cabin location near the kitchen are taken very seriously. These points have been shared with our operations team for immediate review and improvement. Payment method and additional charges Due to operational conditions on the bay, onboard payments are currently handled mainly in cash. VAT and service charges are applied in accordance with local regulations. That said, we acknowledge that this information should be communicated more clearly before the cruise to avoid any inconvenience or misunderstanding. Food and beverages Our onboard dining focuses on simple, well-balanced meals designed to suit a wide range of international guests. However, we understand that this may not meet every traveler’s expectations, particularly regarding value for beverages. Your feedback is noted and will be considered in future menu and pricing reviews. Cruise route and sailing time The itinerary of Oriental Sails follows the regulations set by Ha Long Bay Management Authority, including navigation time, anchoring points, and permitted activities. We regret that the sailing duration felt shorter than expected, and we recognize that clearer pre-trip explanations could help align expectations more accurately. Once again, we sincerely appreciate your honest and constructive feedback. It helps us identify areas that need improvement and allows us to serve future guests better. We truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again on a different journey that may better suit your travel preferences. Kind regards, The Oriental Sails Team

Why this scores 83
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hanoi.
How much does 2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay cost?
+
Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hanoi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hanoi is not rushed.
Is 2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 399 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Hanoi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay?
+
Around 140 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hanoi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hanoi and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 2-Day Oriental Sails Junk Cruise of Halong Bay start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hanoi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Hanoi?
+
On Outty we rank every Hanoi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ninh Binh Day Trip from Hanoi with Tam Coc or Trang An & Mua Cave, Ha Giang Loop Tour 4 Days 3 Nights with Ha Giang Vision Tour, Halong Bay Day Tour With Titop Island, Cave, Kayak & Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Hanoi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hanoi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
