Milky Way Gazing experience

Such a beautiful experience! Seeing the Moroccan night sky away from all the city lights was honestly something special. You can see so many stars, and seeing the Milky Way with your own eyes is completely different from seeing it in pictures. We learned about different stars, planets and constellations and got to look through the telescope as well. The explanations were simple and interesting, so you don’t need to know anything about astronomy beforehand to enjoy it. My favorite part was just standing there in the darkness, looking up and realizing how much is actually above us. The combination of the stars, planets, Milky Way and the peaceful Moroccan night made it an experience I’ll definitely remember. Really recommend Morocco Astro Tours if you’re visiting Morocco and want to experience something a little different!

A unique stargazing experience in the Sahara Desert of Morocco

I have just spent, with three friends, two nights in the eastern Tafilalt of Morocco at the astrocamp of Morocco Astrotours. Moha Segaoui was our host. We stayed in luxurious 'bungalow-tents' miles from the lights of Erfoud and Merzouga. So no light pollution... none! Just dark skies and peace and quiet. The star gazing really was amazing. I have rarely seen the milky way so milky. Moha seems to know the star map like the back of his hand. Saturn was rings edge on and looked wonderful. During the day we saw amazing fossils at the nearby oases of Laaouina and Saf Saf surrounded by the escarpment of the Hamada du Guir. Both oases still had flowing water following the rains of last September. We had bed and breakfast and evening meal. The tajine of aubergine and lashing of cheese was so good that we asked for it on the second evening. Breakfast lasted for much of the morning. I am going to send two more evening there when my girl friend comes to join me at the end of the month. I really recommend this expreience for anyone who loves the desert.

An unforgettable stay with MoroccoAstroTours!

We spent extraordinary moments in the Moroccan desert. The meals were delicious and varied, the activities perfectly organized and full of discoveries. The highlight of our stay: two magical nights devoted to stargazing with different telescopes. We not only admired the sky in all its glory, but also learned a lot about local methodology and the surrounding culture from Moha. I highly recommend MoroccoAstroTours to all those who want to live a unique experience mixing adventure, gastronomy and astronomy.
