    The tour of all tours!

We booked this tour on a bit of a whim as it combined the 2 places we wanted to see and we were nervous about joining a small group because of covid. We were very thankful we did it this way. The element of it being private really worked for us. It particularly worked well for this tour because both days were jam packed of things to see and do. I could not have imagined trying to do this itinerary with a small group. It would have been rushed and just not as enjoyable. Our guide James took us to both areas and knew them both incredibly well. He was really friendly and knowledgeable and was always checking up on us to make sure we were enjoying the tour. The only thing that could have made this better was to see everything over 3 days. This was an option we had considered originally but we were constrained with our available dates. That said, we saw all the main bits of the great ocean road, but I felt there was even more to discover with an extra days. Although we just finished our last day before Melbourne went into a snap covid lockdown, so I dare say our 3rd day would have been cancelled anyway. We were absolutely both recommend Posh Penguins for a private tour to not only Phillip Island, but also the great ocean road.

Response from the operator: Thanks Pacman, Sound like you won the jackpot, finishing the tour the day before lockdown came into effect. So glad you managed to squeeze the tour in. Yes, The Great Ocean Road is packed full of things to see, so 1 day on the road doesn't quite do it the justice it deserves. One day certainly covers the main highlights, but it is very very fast paced, so only suits certain travellers. It really comes down to your travelling style. Do you want to see as much as you can in the time you have in Australia, or do you prefer to take your time and really discover the area in more detail There is no right or wrong choice. Its really personal preference :) We are always happy to discuss the tours further either via email or phone to ensure you pick the choice that is right for you. Warm regards, James Posh Penguins

How many days do you need in Melbourne?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
