So many orcas!
Had an amazing whale watch with Hoonah whale tours. The communication about where to meet before the tour was very clear. We were picked up by Jordan’s uncle who told us about life in Hoonah on the short drive to the dock. Very informative and entertaining. The 14 person boat is brand new and beautiful! There were chips, water and coffee or hot chocolate to enjoy. We saw sooo many orcas, humpbacks and even saw some otters and a sea lion and a bear on shore. Jordan was very committed to finding as much wildlife as possible, while also being conscious of maintaining a comfortable ride. I would encourage him to bring on a naturalist (or maybe a marine biology student intern?) to give more information about the whales. Overall a great experience!
Response from the operator: Thanks for the thought out review! Glad you had a good time!

Excellent excursion - small group was perfect for us! On time, good communication, friendly operators.
Owners Mariah and Jacob gave us an amazing experience! The transport to the boat dock was friendly and informative and we saw so many whales, I was amazed! We saw two bubble feeds and stayed out till the sun was setting making the trip serene and picturesque. We were close enough to hear the spouts and a small enough tour that we could go silent - that was especially mesmerizing. Jacob's ease with the boat and knowledge of the area along with his willingness to share stories and a photo album made the trip really enjoyable. Be sure to leave the ship immediately and find your way directly to the meet-up spot - it's not far but can take about 15 minutes to get there.
Response from the operator: Thanks for the review!

Small, perfect and a great value!!
Amazing! We highly recommend this experience. The company is family owned and operated and they are great. The captain was very knowledgeable and took us right to everything we wanted to see. The boat is new, has snacks and is extremely nice. The humpback whales were bubble net fishing which was amazing!! 10/10
Response from the operator: Thanks so much for the review! Glad you guys enjoyed the tour

Trip Bucket List Fulfilled!
This was the icing to our trip! We saw so many humpback whales, we saw Orcas, sea lions and even a bear! It’s a smaller group so it was even better and with our group of 13 we had our own private tour! Highly suggest a boat of this size plus it has a very comfortable interior cabin to cruise in If it’s cold! Thank you Jordan and Maraiya for an unforgettable experience!
Response from the operator: So glad it was the icing to your trip! We love that! Thanks for the review!

How much does 14 passenger Whale Watching Tours in Icy Strait aka Hoonah AK cost?

Prices start at $314 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hoonah usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 14 passenger Whale Watching Tours in Icy Strait aka Hoonah AK take?

Is 14 passenger Whale Watching Tours in Icy Strait aka Hoonah AK worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 61 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Hoonah, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 14 passenger Whale Watching Tours in Icy Strait aka Hoonah AK?
+

Is 14 passenger Whale Watching Tours in Icy Strait aka Hoonah AK suitable for kids and families?

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 14 passenger Whale Watching Tours in Icy Strait aka Hoonah AK?
+
Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hoonah can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hoonah and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

When is the best time to visit Hoonah?
+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Hoonah?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
