About this experience
Meet your anime-savvy guide outside JR Akihabara Station for a 3-hour, fully customized dive into Tokyo’s pop-culture capital. A day or two before, we’ll message you on WhatsApp to learn your favorite series and must-have items—figures, English manga, retro games, limited cards, exclusive gacha—so every stop is built around you. Glide through hidden boutiques, retro-game basements and tax-free mega shops while your guide bridges language gaps, shortcuts queues and shares insider tips most visitors miss. Finish at a reserved Maid Café, an entertainment spot born from Japan’s new pop culture. Costumed maids greet you with playful spells, “kawaii” dishes and photo ops in a whimsical fantasy setting. Your guide explains etiquette, translates menus and settles the bill, leaving you free to relax and enjoy this only-in-Japan finale. The tour ends at the café, where you can stay longer or keep exploring Akihabara on your own—dream collectibles already in hand.

Anime Shopping
Masa made this experience amazing! He knew where everything was located. It would have taken us days to accomplish the Anime shopping that he guided us through in 3 hours.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! Masa will be thrilled to read this. Akihabara can be overwhelming if you don't know where to look — shops tucked into upper floors, hidden corners, the right places for the right items — so it's great to hear he could pack so much into three hours. Thanks for choosing us, and we hope the haul brought you joy back home!

Great Tour!
It was a fantastic tour, perfectly tailored to my interests and wishes. My guide, Keiko, was amazing! She went above and beyond to cater to my interests. She showed me great shops and places. She also told me fascinating things about the history of Akihabara. She gave me recommendations for food and tips for the rest of my trip.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a thoughtful review! Keiko will be delighted to read it. Akihabara has so many layers — the shops, the history, the small details — and she truly loves tailoring each tour to what the guest actually cares about. We're so glad it clicked for you. Hope the rest of your Japan trip was just as memorable, and safe travels home!

Anime/Video Game tour was amazing
We had an amazing time in Akihabara for the Anime / Video game tour. Enjoyed seeing all of the different stores and even made a few purchases along the way! Our tour guide, Yuya, was very informative and helpful with any of or questions or requests. Was a pleasure to spend time with him and we really enjoyed sharing our interests and favorite anime’s with each other. 10 out of 10 tour and I would definitely recommend it!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the amazing review! I’m really glad you enjoyed exploring Akihabara and even picked up a few great items along the way. Yuya had a great time too and loved sharing anime and game talks with you! Your kind words mean a lot—thanks again for the recommendation, and hope to see you again in Japan!

Fascinating insights into anime and manga
We are absolute manga and anime beginners, but our lovely guide Yui explained all the important aspects to us and answered all our questions. YUI tailored the tour to our interests and as a result, we had a fascinating few hours in a part of Tokyo we would not otherwise have visited. Thank you Yui!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed exploring Akihabara, even as beginners to manga and anime. Yui also had a great time guiding you and was glad to customize the tour to your interests. Hope to see you again on your next visit to Japan!

Why this scores 72
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does 100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara cost?
+
Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is 100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 100% PRIVATE Anime, Manga, Game & Pop Culture Tour in Akihabara start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
