About this experience
*Escape the crowds - Private riding tour* Experience riding an Icelandic horse and learn about the traditions around horsemanship in Iceland. Our little farm is located just 20 minutes from downtown Reykjavík - but still you feel like you are at the countryside when you arrive with us. We only have few horses and our riding centre is very small, that way we feel we can keep the atmosphere personal and authentic. This is a private tour, so it can be customized to your riding level. Suitable for both beginners and advanced riders. Full riding time is roughly one hour.

Exceptional Customized Icelandic Pony and Scenic Experience
Incredible experience with both of our guides and all of the lovely icelandic ponies! Our family of 5 has a wide variety of experience on horses, from 0 up to FEI dressage. Everyone had an amazing time! We split into two groups to best suit the needs of our family (84 year old grandmother came along for the ride too!). One group went off on a tólting and wading adventure, and the other group walked along beautiful scenic hills. Everyone stayed safe, laughed, got to enjoy the beautiful Icelandic scenery, and all came back in one piece!! Cannot recommend this company enough!

Perfect way to end our trip to Iceland
I selected this tour for my 12 year old daughter and myself because of the reviews and because it offered transportation from our hotel in Reykjavik. Simply put, it was wonderful. The guide was also the owner of the Icelandic horses. She cared for and knew each very well so was able to match us to horses that we would each feel comfortable on. She started by learning about our riding experience then selected horses for us and had us groom them to begin to establish a connection. The horses were very friendly and responsive. I've never had such a smooth, comfortable ride. We rode around the field and on a horse trail that ran parallel to the road. The guide took pictures throughout so we could just concentrate on the experience and safety. We got to trot and tilt and had a much more relaxed, comfortable experience than you get on the typical trail ride. I would engage this business again and after this, 'm impressed enough to want to come back to Iceland just to go on a multi day riding trip (tho that is not something she does. For us, having a taxi sent by the owner to take us from and back to the hotel was worth it as she is apparently sometimes not found on Google maps and more connection between her and the driver can be needed.

Private tour tailored just for your group
It was a superb experience riding in the mountains! With just my husband and I, it was very personal and tailored to both our riding skills and our interests. Not only did we take in the scenery, we also learned much about the local farming, history of the area, and especially about the icelandic horses breed and managent practices. This isn't just a line of horses following the leader, this is an adventure!

Terrific trail ride!
We had a terrific ride in gorgeous countryside. The horses were well cared for, gentle and friendly. Our guide was very friendly and encouraging, and we were able to try out a gait specific to this breed of horse. It was a wonderful experience !

Beautiful tour that is easily accessed by bus from Reykjavik.
An amazing tour with our guide Linnea. The horses (Freyír and Von) were living their best horse life, were very kind and well trained. The landscape was beautiful and the stable was easy to access by taking bus nr 15 from the city centre of Reykjavik.

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does 1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær cost?
+
Prices start at $115 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is 1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 55 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule 1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær?
+
Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 1+ hour Private Horse riding tour from Reykjavík/Mosfellsbær start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
