    Core Memory Made

We had the most fabulous horseback ride with Sage and Noelle- and this was followed by the Cowboy Cookout. Just perfect! This will be a core memory for our family and I can’t recommend Sage, Noelle, and Bair Ranch enough!!

Sick horses used for trail ride :(

The trail guides for the horseback riding at Blair Ranch were very customer service focused, which was appreciated. However, many or even most, of the horses were clearly sick, including the ones used for the trail ride. Many horses were coughing. We saw one horse that looked very under-nourished, with its ribs showing. The guides did not seem knowledgeable about the horses, and there was one incident where a young, mostly untrained horse, was put in the paddock with other horses and a potential conflict between the horses erupted. The guides calmed down the horses, but a knowledgeable horse trainer would not have allowed the situation to happen in the first place. Additionally, the trail consisted mainly of dirt roads, rather than horse trails going through meadows and other natural areas, as we have experienced with other horse riding companies.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you found our trail guides to be customer-service focused and attentive throughout your visit. Bair Ranch is a historic working ranch situated within the beautiful Colorado River canyon. Unlike horseback rides that primarily travel through manicured meadows or resort properties, our rides showcase the authentic landscapes of a functioning western ranch, including ranch roads, open pastures, canyon terrain, wildlife habitat, and spectacular mountain views. Many guests appreciate the opportunity to experience a genuine Colorado ranch environment that reflects the area's rich agricultural and ranching heritage. We would, however, like to address several concerns raised in your review. The health and welfare of our horses is our highest priority and something we take extremely seriously. Our herd receives regular veterinary care, nutritional oversight, and daily monitoring by experienced wranglers and management staff. We categorically do not use horses that are unfit for trail operations, and any horse showing signs of illness or distress would be immediately removed from service. Because horses are living animals, occasional coughing can occur due to dust, environmental conditions, or normal herd behavior. However, this should not be interpreted as evidence that horses are sick. Likewise, horses naturally vary in body type, age, and breed characteristics, and what may appear unusual to an observer is often completely normal and healthy for that individual animal. Regarding the interaction you witnessed in the paddock, horses are herd animals with established social dynamics. Our wranglers routinely manage these interactions and are trained to safely handle the occasional displays of herd behavior that can occur when horses are turned out together. At no time was there a safety concern for guests or horses. As for the trail itself, Bair Ranch offers a unique western riding experience across a historic working ranch. Our routes include ranch roads, open terrain, and scenic mountain views that allow guests to experience the landscape much as it has been traveled for generations. While every rider has different expectations and preferences, many of our guests specifically enjoy the authentic ranch setting and expansive views that make this property so special. We appreciate your comments and remain committed to providing exceptional horseback riding experiences while maintaining the highest standards of horse care, safety, and guest service.

    Great time!

The 2 hour trail ride was fantastic! Our guide, Landon, did an amazing job helping us along the way and sharing fun stories and history about the ranch and a rea. The views of the ranch and canyon were beautiful. I was also pleased with the reminders and even a call the day before to check if we had questions before our ride. A great time - would definitely recommend 👍👍

    Beautiful experience

This was a wonderful experience- our guide Taylor was very considerate and explained everything. My horse was perfect for me as a 75 year old who hasn’t been on a horse in 55 years.

    Maiden voyage

It was wonderful. I have never ridden a horse, and our guide was very informative and attentive. My water bottle fell out of my pocket on the ride. I told her because I felt like I defiled the land. She assured me she would find it, but inquired if I would be okay without water. So kind.

1 Hour Horseback Ride: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Glenwood Springs.

How much does 1 Hour Horseback Ride cost?

    +

Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Glenwood Springs usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does 1 Hour Horseback Ride take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Glenwood Springs is not rushed.

Is 1 Hour Horseback Ride worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 39 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Glenwood Springs, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule 1 Hour Horseback Ride?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is 1 Hour Horseback Ride suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book 1 Hour Horseback Ride?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Glenwood Springs can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Glenwood Springs and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does 1 Hour Horseback Ride start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Glenwood Springs within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Glenwood Springs?

    +

On Outty we rank every Glenwood Springs experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Glenwood Springs Half-Day Rafting Trip, Glenwood Canyon Half-Day, Raft the Colorado River through Glenwood Springs - Half Day Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Glenwood Springs?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Glenwood Springs?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
