What you'll see and do
Stockholm Archipelago
We meet at 09:00 for the full day and at 13:00 for the half day tour at our base south of Stockholm before driving together to our kayak base, a historic seaside village at the edge of the archipelago. From here, we launch into protected waters and begin our journey. Throughout the day, we paddle between islands — navigating narrow passages, open bays and quiet granite shorelines. The pace is steady and relaxed, with time to paddle, rest and enjoy the surroundings. Activities Kayaking Hiking A Cold Lunch on an Island Beach Swedish Fika Wildlife & Coastal Life White-tailed sea eagles are often seen circling above the islands, while great cormorants rest on offshore rocks. During migration seasons, geese and other seabirds cross the open sky. The archipelago is alive — subtle, but constant.

Awesome afternoon paddle - does not get better
We had an absolutely wonderful paddle out and around some islands. We enjoyed a FIKA tucked into a small cove… and saw an otter and blue heron and cormorants…. Paulo was perfect guide. His knowledge of the area and kayaking is great. Only downside or warning is you have to help get the kayaks some distance from storage area down to the water…this takes a bit of effort and I generally have not had to do this on guided paddles…. It was well worth it, just do not be surprised … bring some muscle with you.

Lovely way to experience the Archipelagos
We had a great time exploring the Archipelagos via kayak, it was certainly a unique experience and a wonderful way to experience the beauty and nature of Sweden. Our guide, Julia was wonderful, very passionate and knowledgeable. The group size was good, a total of 6 people, however the varying experience levels did seem to slow us down a fair amount. Lunch was fine, we had quiche, salad, and coffee, plus a fika break on the water with cookies and coffee/tea. I do think some relevant details were missing from the tour description - there is only one tour guide, and the group is responsible for carrying the kayaks and gear to the dock to launch and back from the end point (through the woods via hiking trail and partway over a paved road). This was not an easy task for the participants on our tour, with some members not able to help and others having to carrying multiple kayaks and take several trips to make up the difference. We also had to clean the kayaks upon returning, which is an innocuous task, but one would think the company would take care of these things. I do think there should be two guides on this trip, especially to manage kayakers of different skill levels and to help with set up and clean up. It was about a 40 minute van ride there and back, and probably 40 minutes to set up and 40 minutes to clean up, we probably spent around 2 hrs 30 min, maybe 3 hours in total kayaking. I highly recommend this experience, just know what you are getting into! Communication with the tour company was good, we had originally signed up for the half day tour, which they were not going to hold for the day, so they upgraded us to the full day, which was much appreciated.

Great fun and beautiful too
I had a great time kayaking and being with the people on this trip. Our guide was fantastic and a fun person to chat with. The five others on the trip were also good fun. We stopped for lunch and a short hike to check out the scenery (a very short climb up a lookout tower), water and all the boats. It was perfect weather which made it even better. I would definitely do this trip again.

A beautiful day out on the water
We had a fantastic day with our guide Marcus. He took time to make sure everything was well prepared, tailored his advice and supervision to the varying levels of experience and carefully considered our route with regard to wind etc to give us the best experience. We covered a satisfying, but manageable distance with a variety of padding conditions (all fine for novices) and the most beautiful archipelago views throughout. The lunch stop with a chance to dip and hike in nature and learn about the environment we were in and a little about the Swedish mindset was wonderful, as was the delicious lunch cooked over an open fire. We loved our day thank you Marcus!

Why this scores 90
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Stockholm.
How much does 1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $155 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Stockholm usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does 1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Stockholm is not rushed.
Is 1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 90 out of 100, which we label "90+ Club". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 271 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Stockholm, and how flexible the cancellation terms are. Scoring 90 or above puts it in the Outty 90+ Club, the top tier of everything we rank.
Can I cancel or reschedule 1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is 1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book 1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour?
+
Around 95 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Stockholm can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Stockholm and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does 1-Day Small-Group Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Stockholm within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Stockholm?
+
On Outty we rank every Stockholm experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Stockholm: Walking Tour of the Old Town, Best of Stockholm: Small Group Walking Tour (Max 10, 3 Hours), Vasa Museum Guided Tour, Including Ticket & Guide. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Stockholm?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Stockholm?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
